Building a collaborative network
Here are some of the multi-faceted partnerships that will be needed for the hub's operation, growth, and expansion.
Part 1: The southwest regional direct air capture hub relies on partnering with geologists, renewable energy companies, direct air capture technology companies and researchers, communities, companies using CO2 (such as concrete factories, bottling centers, greenhouses, and synthetic fuel production), as well as those making infrastructure for long-term storage.
Part 2: The hubs also rely on initial financing from investors and the US government for the significant start up and infrastructure costs for the hub. University partners like Arizona State University provide research into direct air capture technology development and help orchestrate the hub partnerships.
Part 3: Eventually, we envision a network of direct air capture hubs across the country and world sharing resources, information, and building a strong carbon market.
